Tyler

The Rylik are a race of sentient stone-like creatures that live deep under the world by the river nine. They toil away their days as numb individuals created for one task and one task only. When someone dies they ferry them down the river and into the Afterworld. Ryilks have no feelings, no souls, no thought and thus so are considered to be constantly rude and brash. Tyler was an elite Rylik. Doing his job to the best of his ability day in and day out. Until one day. The day he met a soul named Rob. Rob told Tyler that he reminded him of a son he once had. As they traveled down the river nine Rob would share stories with Tyler. Stories of the time he invented something and all the lakes he would fish in. As Tyler watched Rob walk up to the gates he was shocked with a feeling he had never felt in his entire existence, sadness. Tyler ran to the gate to grab Rob's hand but wasn't in time. He had lost the only thing he had to a friend, to a father, that day. That was only the beginning. Shortly after another Rylik who worked close to Tyler betrayed him. He claimed souls that Tyler had sheppard as his own. This caused Tyler to feel hate, to feel rage, revenge. Not knowing what to make of all these feeling Tyler spoke to some of the older Ryliks. They told him, he was damaged, broken, diseased. That he should be eliminated and killed off before any other Ryliks start to behave like him. Tyler fled the river nine for his life. Lost and alone in the world above. He had to survive as best he could. He was without anything. Shattered and broken laying against the bed of a river Tyler closed his eyes. Excepting that he was nothing more to this word then wrong. Rob's stories played again in his head. Words of wisdom and a happy life he once lived. How he spoke of a son and how much of a great man he would become. Tyler felt like those words were his too. He rose from the river's side destined to be better for him and destined to show that there is a strength within him and he will not let a life of misery define him.
